Fall Transitions

Apologies are in order: for the long absence of Lace & Hardware, I am deeply sorry.  No excuses allowed, only fashionable suggestions to make up for lost time.  With that in mind, I hope to earn your forgiveness through a slew of beautiful transition pieces for my all time favorite season: FALL.  Far before my obsession with September issues and Fashion Week runways, my love for Fall began as a little girl:  the extraordinary color change in leaves, the ghoul-like fun of halloween, the savory Thanksgiving celebration, and (if we are being honest) my birthday month, November.  As I grew older, I realized that fall also offered a chance for a fresh start: a new school year, the opportunity of change---a window of reinvention, if you will.  And what better way to honor change than with an update of your wardrobe, whether that be indulging in Fall trends or just experimenting with your already acquired arsenal.  Take a look below at some of my favorite Fall choices, and don't forget to challenge yourself to a bit of change.

1. Equipment Brett Washed-Silk Shirt:  You can never go wrong with a crisp, white shirt.  Ever.  Staples such as this offer the always needed versatility that will carry you from you season to the next.  This Equipment blouse plays into two of Fall's trends as well, (think: hitting two birds with one stone) that of the black and white combination as well as a tux-infused feel.  A shirt worn easily with either skinny jeans and flats for the office, or dressed up with a sequined jacket and high waisted skirt for a night out.

2.  Lanvin Oxford Bootie:  Although a bit of a splurge, I couldn't help myself.  Lanvin happens to have that hypnotizing effect on me.  That said, their incredible creation plays to all the right Fall notes.  Covered in burgundy paten leather and supported with an I-mean-business heel, this oxford shoe laces up with a romantic black tie.  Perfect for that of date night or perhaps something more avant-garde: an art gallery opening?  If you're asking me though, I would wear these to either of the following a) the grocery store, b) on the treadmill, or c) with my pajamas....that's how much I adore them.  Shoe-fetish?  No, not me.

3. MARC JACOBS Dot Print Flared Skirt:  Pencil skirts have been quite the rage for this upcoming Fall season.  Lady-like in structure, but sexy in appeal, the pencil skirt has the staying power of that of an Hermes Birkin bag.  Always in style, appropriate for nearly all occasions (sans sporting events...but give us break), and a classic staple to any woman's closet.  This Marc Jacobs skirt grabbed my eye for both it's unusual deep emerald hue, as well as it's polka dot pattern---another must have of Fall.

4.  DSQUARED2 Ladylike Tweed Jacket:  Keeping with the ladylike trend, this amazing jacket would complete just about any outfit.  Tweed was a major player in this Fall's collections, and an absolute addition to your autumn wardrobe.  This jacket balances feminine detailing with men's wear: tweed, normally associated with a masculine temperament, is rooted here with princess shoulders as well as beautifully and colorfully lined sleeves and collar.  Truly a one-of-a-kind piece.

5.  DKNY Crepe Shift Dress:  This Mod dress, delightfully colored in cherry red, has got me drooling.  So simple, yet so effective in it's cut, color and style.  Think Twiggy when you want to exercise your inner Mod for this Fall trend.  Whether worn with some fancy stocking and a cardigan for a lunch date, or worn with chunky heels and killer earrings for dinner and drinks, your stylishly set.

6.  Kimchi Blue Chain Strap Crossbody Bag:  Mini bags have also been seen everywhere---perfect for transitioning.  The chain link strap adds interest and sophistication, while also remaining functional with its crossbody wearability.  I also love the stiff structure of the bag: looks like the office, but the buckle makes in playful.
